CTT Moscow, an annual construction-machinery trade fair, was held this year between 2 and 6 June at the Intl. Exhibition Center Crocus Expo in Moscow. The tremendous growth in visitor and exhibitor numbers participating in this event over recent years bears witness to the ongoing high level of interest in the Russian market on the part of the international construction machinery sector.
In 2000 43 exhibitors took part in CTT Moscow; in 2008 that number had leaped to 820. The same rate of increase was recorded on the visitor side, their number jumping from 4,750 in 2000 to 86,000 by 2008.
Despite the global economic crisis a large number of the international exhibitors were pleasantly surprised by the good response to the 2009 show. For medium-sized German companies in particular, the Russian market remains very attractive. Overall, the number of exhibitors fell to 580, but the international proportion among them remained steady, with 170 companies from Western Europe taking part. German participation, too, matched the level of last year, with 70 German companies exhibiting again this year.
Interest on the visitor side was stronger than expected, with 18,000 trade visitors in attendance, and the exhibitors reported a generally good fair overall. In view of this, CTT Moscow has clearly maintained its status as the leading trade fair for construction machinery in Russia and the whole of the CIS, despite the crisis. Companies from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Finland, China and Korea were especially strongly represented, the majority of them exhibiting in their respective national pavilions. Apart from the markets in Russia, CTT Moscow also covers the states in the CIS.
CTT Moscow is one of the most important construction machinery trade fairs in the building fairs network of IMAG. Globally, IMAG's activities range from China, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Turkey and Algeria, through to Munich, where its parent company, Messe München GmbH, organises the world's biggest construction machinery trade fair every three years. The focus of IMAG's activities for CTT Moscow lies in organising and supporting international exhibitors, in particular the country pavilions. The exhibitors it caters to are mainly small and medium-sized firms in the international building machinery and building materials sector.
