Ricardo Inc. reveals new technology, Ethanol Boosted Direct Injection (EBDI) that optimizes ethanol-fueled engines to a level of performance that exceeds gasoline engine efficiency and approaches levels previously reached only by diesel engines.

Tier 4 Interim compliant engine line
Perkins Engines introduces its 1200 Series engines to meet Tier 4 Interim (Stage IIIB) emissions regulations.

  • 21% increase in power output over Perkins’ current 5.5 liter offering
  •  Top of line is 7 liter, 6-cylinder engine capable of 225 kW: 1206E-E70TTA has two turbochargers mounted in series: first stage turbo accelerates quickly, giving excellent response and torque at low speeds, while the larger second stage provides the high airflow required for high power density
  • 1206E-66TA is a 6.6 liter engine, of interest to customers who need high torque at low engine speed
  • 1204E-E44TA and TTA will replace 1104 engines; TA uses a single turbocharger with intercooler, and the TTA uses a two-stage turbocharger
